Competition Summary
What is it?
- one-day inter-school competitive event for sixth formers
- for teams comprising three Year 12 lower sixth students
- requiring strategic analysis of a business problem, innovative business thinking, presentation skills and teamwork
What happens?
- teams are presented with a question pack about setting up a new business, with accompanying market research and other data
- they have three hours to devise a proposal for the new business (including marketing and financial data) and prepare a 10 minute PowerPoint presentation
- presentations are made in front of a judging panel and a live audience, followed by questions from the panel and audience members

- no teacher involvement
- all schools welcome to enter or host their own competition for schools in their area
- past question packs available on this site, for in-school trials
When and where does it take place?
- 25 regional heats after exams in June/July at host schools and colleges all over UK
- 4 regional finals at major Business Schools in September
- National Final in London, in December
Who takes part?
What do the winners receive?
The prizes in the National Final are:
- 1st Place – 1st Place – A 4 day trip to New York, to include flights and hotels, for 3 winning students and their teacher, including, attendance at ‘Business in America’ conference at New York University and £500 spending money.
- 2 nights accommodation at a 4 star hotel in Paris, travelling via Eurostar, including attendance at ‘Your Future in Europe’ at the Palais des Congres
- 3rd Place runners up – A half day visit to the FT in London, to include, a tour of the London offices, a lunch with the Senior Edit team and goody bags. Travel to and from London for the 3rd placed students and their teacher will be provided.
