All schools and colleges are welcome to enter The Ogden Trust National Schools Business Competition and we would particularly like to encourage more state schools and sixth form colleges to take part.

The Q & A’s below will help you with any queries, but if you require further guidance, please do not hesitate to contact Duncan on 020 7620 0735, or duncan@enterprise-education.org.uk

Scenario 1: I would like to host an event and invite schools to compete with us.

Q: What does hosting involve?

A host school runs the first heat of the competition after exams in June/July 2008.  They decide on a suitable date, select a judging panel and invite other schools to compete with them over the course of a school day.  They will organise a schedule for the one day competition and run the event.

Q: How many teams participate at each host school?

You are required to have a minimum of 6 schools, to a maximum of 10, competing with you.  To ensure that you reach the minimum of 6 schools, invite more than 10 schools, to allow for declines.  Offer places on a first come, first serve basis, mixing state and independent, if you wish.

Q: What is the deadline for registration?

Register as soon as possible.  The first heats are in June/July, but it will be easier, logistically, if you make plans now.

Q: How much money will you provide me with to run the first heat?

A maximum of £200 is available to enable you to host an event at your school, to cover catering, purchase of memory sticks etc.

Q: What do I need to do next?

Email duncan@enterprise-education.org.uk inserting ‘HOST SCHOOL’ in the subject line.  Make sure you include:

  • Preferred hosting date in June/July
  • Full school address
  • Telephone number
  • Name and email address of the primary teacher contact.
  • All necessary correspondence will be emailed to you

Your competition details will then be posted on this site.
A full guide to hosting is listed on this site, including all example correspondence and a full guide to hosting a first round heat.

Scenario 2: I would like to enter a team, but we are not in a position to host.

Q: Where can I find out where my nearest host school is?

Email duncan@enterprise-education.org.uk inserting ‘COMPETITION ENTRY’ in the subject header line, detailing:

  • Your preferred host school to attend (if listed on the site)
  • Your full address
  • Telephone number
  • Name and email address of primary contact teacher

Schools that have agreed to host are detailed in the ‘schools contact details’ section, on the navigation bar, in this section.

We will then advise you as to the nearest host school where you can compete and arrange contact between you.

Q: What if there aren’t any host schools near us?

Contact Duncan@enterprise-education.org.uk  You have 2 options - either to host the event yourselves and invite up to 10 local schools to compete with you, or, contact a local school and ask them if they would like to take part in the competition, in a host capacity.  Enterprise Education will be able to help you source a host school.
